so long grandpa...
We got to have a child-free dinner last night with the folks. It was really nice. We have been going to the Belgrave Reel Café. It's pretty great food. I have ordered the exact same thing every time (soup, salad, dips). We say goodbye to Walter tomorrow. He is heading up to Sydney to work a little more and then back to snowy Vermont. Judy will stay with us until Sunday, so I am trying to think of a couple more nice things to do before she goes.

thomas in emerald... sweltering heat...
We took the kids to see Thomas today in Emerald. Mart and Mum came up and we all drove there in the unbelievably hot weather. It was almost too hot for the kids to enjoy. Luckily we managed to get onto the shaded carriage, I couldn't have handled sitting in the sun. The ride was short, kids loved seeing Thomas and the Fat Controller.
The heat has been pretty oppressive, yesterday I played netball on an outdoor court and just about died. I think it was 40 degrees. It was a bummer as I had started with a new team and could barely lift my arms up to shoot... so I sucked pretty badly and we got totally trounced. Oh well, will try harder next week, weather allowing.

lazy and crazy days
Judy arrived last Sunday. Eli and I stupidly got the dates wrong and left her stranded at Tullamarine wondering where the hell we were. Anyway she got a cab to Upwey which was pretty expensive. We have been having a nice time. The week started pretty slowly, but we have been thinking of more and more things to do. We went to Moomba on Saturday. It was pretty funny experiencing it as an adult. I guess it just seemed so lame, is it possible it has always been pretty lame, or was I just an easily excited kid. Anyway Kai loved it and so I guess it is still fun for kids. Yesterday I did the 1000 steps and Kaisy actually nearly made it to the top with me. It's been hot this weekend, which is nice actually. Today we swam in Lysterfield Lake. It was just so much fun to be able to dive into the water. It seems over the last few years I have missed out, not having the freedom to run into the ocean or dive into a pool, either being too pregnant or minding an infant, I was starting to wonder if I would ever be able to enjoy just being able to swim again. YIPEEE!
